Job Profile

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

At a minimum, Guards must meet the following educational and training qualifications prior to commencement of Guard duties.
* Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak in English or French as appropriate
* Valid level one First Aid Certificate c/w Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (must have upon hire)
* Basic level computer skills an asset
* Vision: Visual standards are RCMP-V4 (eye glasses permitted)
* Able to use both hands
* Occasionally required to manipulate/lift up to 20 kg
* Able to bend at the waist and climb stairs without restrictions or the use of assistive devices
* Bilingual Guards may be required for some communities

Job Profile

As the Service & Response Coordinator you will support existing and current work sites with temporary staffing coverage for short term needs such as vacation, sickness and contract escort services. These services are provided to private and government clients at various sites throughout the Lower Mainland. You will also monitor and respond to a web based lone worker program that ensures the safety and welfare of any employee who is working in an isolated location.

Key Accountabilities

  • Respond to and monitor inbound supervisor and client staffing requirements in a timely manner understanding the site and character requirements
  • Select an appropriate staff member to fill the request from a casual bank of commissionaires
  • Provide a complete and accurate briefing of work to commissionaires allocated to the work assignment
  • Conduct a follow up and review with the client and commissionaire member to ensure quality performance and collect any feedback
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the workforce schedule system to ensure accurate personnel information is recorded in a timely manner
  • Accurate completion of order and review of worked hours via completion of timesheet for submission to Manager, Operational Support for sign off
  • Expected to visit sites in conjunction with Business Unit managers to understand operation and site requirements

The Animal Control Officer will be a representative of both Commissionaires BC and our Client the Fraser Valley Regional District Animal Control/CARE Centre. The Animal Control Officer will be a positive individual who presents themselves in a professional manner at all times. They will carry out responsibilities pertaining to the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) Animal Control bylaws, including educating the public and/or offering solutions in an attempt to gain compliance. The Animal Control Officer will work in coordination with the Administration Clerk to ensure the final goal is met.

Job Profile

• Follow policies and procedures as set out in the Post Orders under the direction of the Supervisor.
• Attend all requests for service dispatched by the Administration Clerk in priority sequence.
• Investigate alleged bylaw contraventions in the field, electronically and by phone.
• Gather evidence to support bylaw infractions and maintain supporting documentation.
• Educate and provide alternative solutions to the public that may fall outside the Fraser Valley Regional District Animal Control umbrella.
• Apprehension and transport of dogs, livestock, and poultry, along with pick up of all deceased animals, is required. Examine all incoming animals for medical concerns and identification.

• Provide information on bylaws and procedures.

• Previous experience and training in animal handling, capture, restraint, disease control, animal welfare;
• Past experience working in a Bylaw Enforcement environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
• Understanding of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act is an asset;
• Bylaw and investigative skills certification is preferred and will be given preference;
• Course work and/or extensive experience with customer service and conflict resolution;
• Considerable knowledge of the City’s geography;
• Extensive knowledge of the principles, methods and equipment used in handling and caring of aggressive, stray, sick and/or injured animals;
• Proven experience with preparing and presenting evidence and conducting oneself in a suitable manner in Court;

* Vision: Visual standards are RCMP-V4 (eye glasses permitted);
* Able to use both hands;

Job Overview

RCMP Guards monitor and safeguard person in custody. Applicant must live with a 30 min. drive of the Detachment.

Physical handling of prisoners is not a job requirement for Detention Guards.  Any movement of Prisoners will be conducted by the RCMP.  Guard duties are to monitor prisoners and to document prisoner movement/activities, as per RCMP policy guidelines.

Job Profile

Monitor all prisoners to ensure their security and well being;

  • Observe and check prisoners frequently and irregularly;
  • Assist RCMP member when required to search prisoners (training provided);
  • Organize meals, record prisoner activity and maintain a prisoner activity logbook;
  • Watch prisoners while in hospital when required;
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of cells when vacated or arrange janitor assistance;
  • Record and report any damages or repairs to cells;
  • Conduct searches of cells prior to occupation and when cells are vacated;

  • Ensure cellblock keys are tagged and stored safely;
  • Ensure all personal effects removed from prisoners are properly secured;
  • Monitor fire safety and be fully conversant with fire orders;

  • Under the supervision of the RCMP Officer, dispense approved prescription medications to persons in  custody and :
  • Perform other duties particular to that station or detachment as outlined in the Unit.

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

At a minimum, Guards must meet the following educational and training qualifications prior to commencement of Guard duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak in English or French as appropriate;
  • Bilingual Guards may be required for some communities;
  • Basic level computer skills an asset;
  • Vision: Visual standards are RCMP-V4 (eye glasses permitted);
  • Able to use both hands;
  • Occasionally required to manipulate/lift up to 20 kg;
  • Able to bend at the waist and climb stairs without restrictions or the use of assistive devices; and
  • Valid level one First Aid Certificate c/w Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Duty-specific Guard training  provided to successful candidates prior to commencement of Guard duties; and

  • Refresher training provided to RCMP Guards in accordance with RCMP directives;
