Job Profile

• Responsible for ensuring that rules, regulations, procedures and requirements in all aspects of security monitoring are within the assignments specified by Commissionaires BC and the client.
• To act as an ambassador for Commissionaire BC and our clients at all times.
• Respond to all incidents requiring security intervention whilst on the assignment and on duty.
• To maintain confidentiality in all instances at all times, even when not on duty.
• To ensure all duties as laid down in the onsite assignment instructions are followed each shift.
• Train and motivate security staff on individual assignments.
• Ensure that all reported incidents including all incidents involving security personnel are properly recorded in the occurrence log or incident form.
• Undertake regular inspections on all departmental equipment, reporting on the condition of said equipment and/ or damage.
• Complete daily occurrence sheets, showing times and places of patrols, Problems found and general state of areas being patrolled. Complete training sheets for individual staff daily.
• Ensure all Security Staff wear the required standard uniform for their assignment at all times without exception or authorization in writing from the Manager of Client Services.

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

• All applicants must have clean criminal background and a 5 year living history in Canada to obtain required Government of Canada clearances
• Candidate must have a valid BC Security Licence;
• Candidate must have a valid Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract;
• Previous experience in security is required;
• Previous supervisory experience is an asset;
• Strong self-management, organization and entrepreneurial skills;
• Physically and mentally fit to perform all duties required;
• Willingness to work shifts rotating days, afternoons and nights as required;

Community Patrol Representatives are considered a unique and distinct element of the RCMP.  The primary purpose of this position is to assist the RCMP to enhance visibility, accessibility and responsive policing.  The successful candidates in this role will be designated to conduct foot and static patrols in the Surrey area.  These patrols are designed to be citizen focused and promote local reassurance.

Job Profile

  • Assisting the RCMP in targeted areas of Surrey by providing a visible presence to the community, and to promote safety and security.
  • Engage with the public and respond to their concerns/inquiries.
  • Observe and report any unusual activity such as panhandling, intoxicated persons, loiterers, and other nuisance type offences.
  • Record facts to prepare reports that document incidents and activities.
  • Establish relationships with the RCMP, Transit Police, business owners and community members.
  • Attend daily briefings with the District Commander/NCO.

  • Valid level one First Aid Certificate c/w Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Job Profile

  • Provide safety and wellness to detainee
  • Access Control in and out of designated areas
  • Process detainee – photo/fingerprints, data entry into an in-house system
  • Assisting  RCMP Members with itemizing and logging effects

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

Experience in a team environment preferable in a leadership role with proven leadership and time management skills.

  • Excellent administrative skills with attention to detail, accurate processing and follow up checks

Job Overview

RCMP Guards monitor and safeguard person in custody. Applicant must live with a 30 min. drive of the Detachment.

Physical handling of prisoners is not a job requirement for Detention Guards.  Any movement of Prisoners will be conducted by the RCMP.  Guard duties are to monitor prisoners and to document prisoner movement/activities, as per RCMP policy guidelines.

Job Profile

Monitor all prisoners to ensure their security and well being;

  • Observe and check prisoners frequently and irregularly;
  • Assist RCMP member when required to search prisoners (training provided);
  • Organize meals, record prisoner activity and maintain a prisoner activity logbook;
  • Watch prisoners while in hospital when required;
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of cells when vacated or arrange janitor assistance;
  • Record and report any damages or repairs to cells;
  • Conduct searches of cells prior to occupation and when cells are vacated;
  • Maintain cellblock security (ensure cell doors are locked at all times);
  • Ensure cellblock keys are tagged and stored safely;
  • Ensure all personal effects removed from prisoners are properly secured;
  • Monitor fire safety and be fully conversant with fire orders;
  • Handle and dispense laundry items;
  • Under the supervision of the RCMP Officer, dispense approved prescription medications to persons in  custody and :
  • Perform other duties particular to that station or detachment as outlined in the Unit.

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

At a minimum, Guards must meet the following educational and training qualifications prior to commencement of Guard duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to obtain and RCMP Reliability and Public Works Reliability Clearance (RCMP Clearance can take 4-6 months to obtain)
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak in English or French as appropriate;
  • Bilingual Guards may be required for some communities;
  • Basic level computer skills an asset;
  • Vision: Visual standards are RCMP-V4 (eye glasses permitted);
  • Able to use both hands;
  • Occasionally required to manipulate/lift up to 20 kg;
  • Able to bend at the waist and climb stairs without restrictions or the use of assistive devices; and
  • Valid level one First Aid Certificate c/w Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Duty-specific Guard training  provided to successful candidates prior to commencement of Guard duties; and

  • Refresher training provided to RCMP Guards in accordance with RCMP directives;
