Job Profile

• Commissionaire will exercise a professional relationship with our client – friendly, but not familiar.
• Conduct security patrols of assigned buildings and provide access control.
• Proactively respond and resolve emergency situations and conflicts.
• Complete evacuation and emergency response procedures.
• Clearly write daily logs and reports of all incidents.
• Maintain general cleanliness and neatness of the waiting area and ground floor.
• Commissionaire to maintain a Pass & Access-Card log for couriers, contractors and authorized visitors.
• Monitor security cameras installed to record the activities in the front lobby, reception desk, elevators and the back entrance, noting, communicating and responding any unusual activities.
• Effectively communication problems or concerns to the Site Supervisor.
• Possess excellent multi-tasking, problem solving, prioritizing and organizational abilities.
• Maintain ongoing knowledge of and perform all duties with high safety standards.
• Any other duties assigned by the client and/or site supervisor.

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • To be successful you must have resided in Canada for the last five years and not been out of the country for more than six months at a time in order to complete required security clearances.
  • Have demonstrated interest and experience in serving the public.
  • Hold a valid BC Security License and Occupational First Aid Level 1 or be willing to complete training and testing.
  • Fluent English written, verbal and reading skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills would be an asset.
  • Positive attitude with professional demeanour and strong interpersonal/customer service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail to fulfill job duties and incident report writing.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and professional manner.

We are currently recruiting for a Supervisor – Animal Care Resource Center for the city of Surrey.

The Site Supervisor has the overall responsibility to ensure that all animal control elements function properly. He/she will liaise with both the client and Commissionaire BC management to ensure that all of the goals and objectives for the site are met. The Supervisor will strive to develop and expand the effective operations of the site in terms of administration, supervision and compliance.

Job Profile

Coordinating all activities and functions of the Animal Care Facility’s operations;

• Conducting in-depth on-job-training and refresher training as required;
• Conducting regular Site Scenario Training sessions;
• Acting as liaison between the Facility and the City in regard to proper protocols;
• Developing and maintaining site Post Orders;
• Actively seek methods and procedures that will enhance site operations;
• Ensuring all operational reports are submitted in a timely fashion;
• Acting as the subject matter expert for all subjects related to Animal Care;
• Evaluating, documenting and submitting performance reports on all commissionaires;
• Ensuring protocols are in place regarding after hour activities/emergencies;
• Ensuring a safe work environment;
• Ensuring that the schedule and payroll data is correct and up-to-date;
• Reviewing all areas of the operations on a regular basis;
• Maintaining an effective relationship with the client and Commissionaires BC Management;
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with other agencies (i.e. SPCA and other rescue societies);
• Overseeing the development of all commissionaires in terms of personal growth;
• Answering public enquiries via telephone and in person at the facility;
• Maintaining proper paperwork on all animals in the facility’s care;
• Collecting fees for impoundment, adoption, licensing and any other services;
• Carrying out any other related duties as requested by the client or Commissionaires BC.

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

REQUIREMENTS
• Applicants must have progressive experience in a same or similar role ideally in a shelter environment.
• Previous supervisory experience is a must.
• Applicants must have post-secondary education and/or training related to animal care.
• Previous experience with organizing, developing and mentoring teams of ten or more employees.
• Previous experience in community involvement and education.
• Previous experience implementing adoption and volunteering programs.
• Have an understanding of animal behavior and body language and be familiar with different animal breeds.
• The ability to learn, understand, interpret, communicate, and enforce the city’s bylaws that pertain to animals.
• Must exhibit examples of dealing with stressful situations.
• Experience in customer service and conflict resolution.
• Strong communication skills both written and spoken with the ability to provide clear, detailed documentation.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Must be physically fit and be able to carry a minimum of 20 lbs.
• A clean criminal background.

Job Profile

As the Service & Response Coordinator you will support existing and current work sites with temporary staffing coverage for short term needs such as vacation, sickness and contract escort services. These services are provided to private and government clients at various sites throughout the Lower Mainland. You will also monitor and respond to a web based lone worker program that ensures the safety and welfare of any employee who is working in an isolated location.

Key Accountabilities

  • Respond to and monitor inbound supervisor and client staffing requirements in a timely manner understanding the site and character requirements
  • Select an appropriate staff member to fill the request from a casual bank of commissionaires
  • Provide a complete and accurate briefing of work to commissionaires allocated to the work assignment
  • Conduct a follow up and review with the client and commissionaire member to ensure quality performance and collect any feedback
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the workforce schedule system to ensure accurate personnel information is recorded in a timely manner
  • Accurate completion of order and review of worked hours via completion of timesheet for submission to Manager, Operational Support for sign off
  • Expected to visit sites in conjunction with Business Unit managers to understand operation and site requirements

  • Perform accurate entry into Operations Pass-on-Books to maintain detailed and professional handovers at every shift change

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a customer service environment
  • Previous work experience in call centres, operations and logistics would be beneficial to the role

Job Overview

Successful candidate will be accountable to Commissionaires BC and the client to carryout site standing orders in a 7 day a week 24 hour day in a highly confidential and emotionally intense environment.

Job Profile

  • Provide safety and wellness to detainee
  • Access Control in and out of designated areas
  • Process detainee – photo/fingerprints, data entry into an in-house system
  • Assisting  RCMP Members with itemizing and logging effects
  • Cell checks and accurate recording of details
  • Escorting detainee as required with RCMP member
  • Order and serve meals as  required
  • Testify in court
  • Alertness to emergency situations and response accordingly

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

Experience in a team environment preferable in a leadership role with proven leadership and time management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent administrative skills with attention to detail, accurate processing and follow up checks
  • Ability to work in a diverse workforce, treating all staff fairly and equally
  • Highly organized and self- motivated
  • Ability to diffuse and negotiate difficult situations
  • Strong team player skills
  • Capable of obtaining or have obtained RCMP security clearances and criminal background
  • Must be able to work all shifts, flexibility and adaptability with schedule assignment
  • Will be tested on written report skills, typing speed and knowledge of computer software

Job Overview

RCMP Guards monitor and safeguard person in custody. Applicant must live with a 30 min. drive of the Detachment.

Physical handling of prisoners is not a job requirement for Detention Guards.  Any movement of Prisoners will be conducted by the RCMP.  Guard duties are to monitor prisoners and to document prisoner movement/activities, as per RCMP policy guidelines.

Job Profile

  • Monitor all prisoners to ensure their security and well being
  • Observe and check prisoners frequently and irregularly
  • Assist RCMP member when required to search prisoners (training provided)
  • Organize meals, record prisoner activity and maintain a prisoner activity logbook
  • Watch prisoners while in hospital when required
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of cells when vacated or arrange janitor assistance
  • Record and report any damages or repairs to cells
  • Conduct searches of cells prior to occupation and when cells are vacated
  • Maintain cellblock security (ensure cell doors are locked at all times)
  • Ensure cellblock keys are tagged and stored safely
  • Ensure all personal effects removed from prisoners are properly secured
  • Monitor fire safety and be fully conversant with fire orders
  • Handle and dispense laundry items
  • Under the supervision of the RCMP Officer, dispense approved prescription medications to persons in custody
  • Perform other duties particular to that station or detachment as outlined in the Unit

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

At a minimum, Guards must meet the following educational and training qualifications prior to commencement of Guard duties.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak in English or French as appropriate
  • Bilingual Guards may be required for some communities
  • Basic level computer skills an asset
  • Vision: Visual standards are RCMP-V4 (eye glasses permitted)
  • Able to use both hands
  • Occasionally required to manipulate/lift up to 20 kg
  • Able to bend at the waist and climb stairs without restrictions or the use of assistance devices
  • Must have valid level one First Aid Certificate c/w Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • WHMIS Certificate would be an asset

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Required Training

  • Duty-specific guard training provided to successful candidates prior to commencement of guard duties
  • Refresher training provided to RCMP guards in accordance with RCMP directives
