Overview
Parking Enforcement Officers are charged with the responsibility of enforcing by-laws as proposed and sanctioned by the City Council of Surrey. This is inspectional, regulatory and investigational work entailing public relations and liaison tasks in which the incumbent exercises independent judgment, action, and tact.
Job Profile
In this position, you will be required to:
- Investigate and process by-law complaints concerning parking infractions and violations;
- Enforce regulations and by-laws related to parking;
- Do daily patrol checks of assigned areas both on foot and by vehicle;
- Collect parking monies as required;
- Gather evidence and appear in Court as a witness;
- Issue parking and other municipal by-law infraction tickets;
- Prepare routine reports and perform clerical duties.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
In order to qualify for this position, you must have the following:
- A valid, fully graduated class-5 drivers licence with a clean abstract;
- BST with CGSB Standard;
- A valid Occupational First Aid level 1 certificate;
- Super Host Certification;
- Considerable knowledge to the by-laws and regulations related to parking regulations, or be willing and able to learn said by-laws quickly;
- The ability to investigate complaints and enforce by-laws and other regulations with tact, impartiality, firmness, and the use of sound judgment;
- The ability to gather appropriate and accurate evidence and present it in Court;
- The ability to prepare routine reports and perform clerical duties;
- The ability to sit/drive for long periods of time & get in and out a car frequently;
- The ability to walk long distances;
- The ability to use computers efficiently and effectively.
