Vancouver, BC – 4 September 2012 – The Board of Commissionaires BC announces the appointment of Dan Popowich as CEO, effective 1 September 2012. Dan is replacing Allen Batchelar, who is retiring after 16 years with Commissionaires BC, where he served as CEO for 14 years. Commissionaires BC awards Bursary to Criminology Student

Vancouver, BC – 3 July 2012 – Twenty year old SFU student Canon Wong has a goal of joining the Vancouver Police Department at the age of 22. The average age of a successful applicant is 26. Canon is doing everything he can to prepare himself for a career in policing, including joining the Canadian Forces as a reservist, and working as a guard with Commissionaires BC. He also volunteers with the South Vancouver Community Policing Centre.

Lieutenant Governor to Present Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal to Penticton Commissionaire

Kelowna, BC – 15 June 2012 – Penticton resident David Kerr is among four commissionaires from mainland BC who are being presented with a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal at 3pm on 15 June at the Delta Grand Okanagan in Kelowna. The Honourable Steven Point, Lieutenant Governor of BC, will be presenting the medals. The medals honour Canadians who have made a significant contribution to the well being of their community and country. As a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to provide meaningful work to former members of the Canadian Forces and RCMP, Commissionaires was allocated a total of 80 medals by the office of the Governor General of Canada to be awarded to deserving members in their 17 divisions across the country.
