Commissionaires BC Appoints New Management for Southern Interior Office in Kelowna, BC
May 2, 2006, Vancouver, BC — Commissionaires BC has announced a plan to support the exponential business growth they have experienced in the Southern Interior region of BC. Keith Smith, who has managed the Kelowna-based Southern Interior office for the last two years, will take the position of Director of Sales & Business Development for the entire province of BC. Brian Garvie, who has an extensive background with the RCMP, previously managed Guard and Patrol Services in the Vancouver market for Commissionaires BC, and will now head up operations for the Southern Interior office.
The tremendous growth that Commissionaires BC has experienced in the Southern Interior market has prompted this move. With several new contracts over the last two years, such as the contract to supply jail guard services to the City of Kelowna, and most recently, a patrol services contract with UBC Okanagan campus, Commissionaires BC holds almost every major guarding contract in the Kelowna area. Garvie’s position was created to respond to increased demand and to ensure clients receive the type of customer-focused service that Commissionaires is known for. According to Garvie, “Meeting the commitments of Commissionaires’ contracts in the Southern Interior, and ensuring our clients have the best service and security protection is my number one goal.”
Creating Smith’s position dedicated to sales and business development is part of the new overall direction for Commissionaires BC. Commissionaires BC is taking the trust they have gained with their guarding and enforcement services, and broadening their offering to become the total security provider of choice for the marketplace. Having Smith dedicated to growing business in the Southern Interior and other areas within the province will also ensure clients are maximizing the support they receive from Commissionaires. For Smith, an active member of the community of Penticton, having served as President of the Penticton Shrine Club and having run twice for the seat of Councillor, he sees this position as an opportunity to connect with other communities in the province through his business travels, and to introduce them to Commissionaires BC. “I’m really excited about this new vision. I think it will be a great opportunity not only for me, but for Commissionaires in general.”
In the Southern Interior, Commissionaires BC provides security services to clients like Kelowna General Hospital and the Kelowna International Airport, now Canada’s 10th busiest airport, as well as various private sector clients, including the Kelowna Yacht Club, the Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre, and H & R Transport.
