Commissionaires Adds State-of-the-Art Digital Fingerprinting to its Range of Identification Services

*Typical Five Month Fingerprinting Procedure Reduced to 72 Hour Turn-around Time*

Vancouver, BC (May 16, 2007) -– Commissionaires Canada today announced that they are one of the first agencies to access the enhanced fingerprint services provided by the RCMP’s Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services in National Police Services. The new process includes processing through the national fingerprint repository, resulting in a 72 hour turn-around time for civil submissions that do not result in an identification of a criminal record. This is welcome news for Canadians who need fingerprints taken for immigration, pardons, employment screening, passports, adoption applications, and Visa, work or travel permits.

Commissionaires embraced the opportunity to become a leader in delivering this new expedited service as part of their ongoing commitment to provide Canadians with high-quality, state-of-the-art identification services. The entire fingerprinting procedure used to take more than five months. Through new technology, the process has been reduced to a mere 72 hours.

“We’ve earned the trust of the RCMP and our clients alike with our commitment to reliable, professional service and we are committed to being at the forefront of new and exciting solutions. The ability to offer this new enhanced identification service to Canadians allows us to achieve this goal,” said Allen Batchelar, CEO, Commissionaires, BC.

This new high-tech fingerprinting service is now available in a friendly and professional setting at more than 25 Commissionaires’ office locations across the nation. Commissionaires’ fingerprinting service offers Canadians fast turnaround times, many locations, more convenience and choice including mobile service. Users of the new service will no longer have to roll their fingers on an ink pad before pressing their fingerprints on a card. It is now done electronically in a matter of minutes. The advanced scanning technology provides a more reliable fingerprint record that reduces identification errors and enhances security.

“Since July 2006 we’ve been participating in a pilot of the new system that the RCMP Real Time Identification [RTID] Project was implementing, and have received greatly improved turn-around times since November 2006. We have been working to ensure that international technology standards are applied to allow full integration and a smooth transition to electronic processing,” said Paul A. Guindon, the CEO of Commissionaires Ottawa which serves as project Lead Division on behalf of the entire Commissionaires Canada network of offices. “The technology is secure. Proprietary software and robust tried and tested hardware has been developed to ensure a safe system for Canadians.”

Commissionaires is accredited by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to conduct electronic fingerprinting across the country and is one of the first agencies to be migrated to and access the enhanced fingerprint system.

RTID is a National Police Services [NPS] Project under the stewardship of the RCMP, designed to improve the efficiency of Canada’s national fingerprint and criminal record repository. Accurate up-to-date criminal records and fingerprint identification information provided by RTID will benefit all system users across Canada.
