Occupational First Aid Level 2
Training Course: Occupational First Aid Level 2
The Occupational First Aid Level 2 course developed by the Workers’ Compensation Board is a 35 hour program divided into 10 lessons of approximately 3.5 hours each. For each lesson there is specific homework and students should be prepared to spend 1.5 to 2 hours of at home study per lesson. A medical Form [contained in the student syllabus] needs to be handed in prior to or on the day of the examination. To qualify for Level 2 training and subsequent certification, a person must be at least 16 years old and have the physical ability to perform first aid skills required to complete the learning tasks.

Instructional Objectives
- Each participant will identify and manage critical interventions of the airway with C-spine control for conscious patients and patients with a decreased level of consciousness.
- Each participant will identify respiratory emergencies and manage critical interventions.
- Each participants will identify circulatory emergencies and manage critical interventions for conscious and patients with a decreased level of consciousness.
- Each participant will conduct the secondary survey component of the priority action approach for patients requiring urgent medical attention and patients in the first aid room.
- Each participant will assess, manage and identify the need for medical aid referral for soft tissue injuries.

Note: OFA3 covers the same items as OFA2 but at a higher level. In addition, OFA2 does not include Patient Handling and Transportation.
