David Freeman
Trainer
David brings to training and development thirty five years of direct leadership experience at all levels of the organization. After twenty years of service in the Canadian Forces involved in personnel development, he worked as an independent organizational trainer and consultant designing and facilitating courses, workshops and presentations for such diverse national and international organizations as Saudi Aramco (the National Oil Company of Saudi Arabia), The Justice Institute of BC and The International Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists. He is a former faculty member Department of Military Psychology and Leadership, Royal Military College of Canada and a guest lecturer for the University of Calgary and St Thomas University. David has presented papers at numerous professional conferences in both Canada and the United States and published articles on the training of teams and the reintegration of employees back to work after work place accidents. David is an internationally Certified Trauma Specialist who specializes in assisting disaster and first responders. David brings his wealth of experience to Commissionaires BC with a focus on curriculum development as we expand our training courses to better meet the needs of the industry.
Dave Walker
Trainer
Dave is a 32 year veteran of the Vancouver Police Department. He started his career as a ‘beat cop’ but his natural talent as a coach and mentor soon became recognized and formalized when he began ‘field training’ police recruits. Later in his career Dave oversaw and coordinated the Use of Force Training scenarios for the Police Academy Justice Institute of BC and he remains a Senior Trainer for the Police Academy Field Training course, lending his expertise in coaching to other trainers from municipalities throughout BC. Dave is a JIBC accredited Police Instructor and Basic Security Training (BST) Instructor and teaches BST at Commissionaires BC on a regular basis. His sense of humour and natural leadership skills produce a positive training environment based on practical, real-world knowledge and experience.
Roger Harber
Trainer
Roger brings to the training group over thirty years experience in materials control and operations management with particular skills in planning, administration, safety and organization development. After 26 years of service with the Canadian Armed Forces, Roger joined Commissionaires BC. For the past 14 years he has worked in various security and leadership positions. Roger joined the training group in 2007 and has focused on ensuring our courses meet required provincial and national standards. Roger is a certified Commissionaires trainer, a certified BST instructor through the Justice Institute of BC as well as a certified trainer for the Tourism BC “ WorldHost “ program.
Robbie Robertson
Trainer
Robert Robertson is an experienced security professional, responsible for all training in the Southern Interior regional office of Commissionaires BC. Robert has trained hundreds of students since beginning security training instruction in 2003 and then moving into that role exclusively. The courses he teaches in Basic Security Training have a 98% success rate with a high level of employment success with Commissionaires and other security firm employees upon completion of the course.
Robert brings with him a high level of security expertise and knowledge gained from his distinguished thirty-year service in the RCMP. In the later part of his career there, Robert was a commander in charge of 55 personnel responsible for key intelligence investigations, and was a member of a joint operational force with local police and city officials in London, Ontario. In his years with the RCMP, his skills as a leader and instructor developed from his management of various units and personnel, both uniformed and civilian. In the early years of his career, Robert was assigned to VIP protection services and provided site and personal protection to royals and heads of states, such as Queen Elizabeth II, Pierre Elliot Trudeau and Ronald Regan.
Robert combines his talents as an instructor with his passions and hobbies. Robert was a boating safety instructor from 2002 to 2005, as part of the Power Squadron program, and he coaches youth basketball and youth hockey teams in his community.
