Commissionaires is a security leader with over 80 years experience protecting people and property. We offer the very best of our knowledge through our training programs, which are taught by qualified and experienced instructors.
Security Guard Training School – We are the experts in security training for security guarding and offer courses for security professionals to obtain security licensing qualification.
We also offer classes for safety and customer service training.
Courses Offered
- BST (Basic Security Training) Security Guard Training (qualifies students to apply for a security licence from the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General)*
Effective March 1, 2009 there has been an official provincial curriculum change to the Basic Security Training (BST) course. The new BST course is now five days (40 hours) and replaces the BST 1, BST 2 and the combined BST 1&2 that were previously offered. As an approved training school, Commissionaires offers the latest course material developed by the Police Academy at the Justice Institute of BC.
Classes run 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, weekdays only
- WorldHost (approved by Tourism BC)
- Occupational First Aid Level 1

Important Information
- Students may commence their security training on any of the course modules: BST, Occupational First Aid Level 1 or SuperHost. All three modules must be completed to our exacting standards to potentially qualify for employment with Commissionaires;
- All students seeking employment as a security guard are welcome in our security guard training program. Upon completion of the BST course and successfully passing the exam, students will be qualified to apply for a security licence;
- Course material will be handed out on the first day of class;
- Please register in advance of training course;
